***PHASED REOPENING OF LIBRARIES***
We are planning a phased reopening of our libraries from w/c 6th July. Find out more by following this link - Phased reopening of Devon Libraries.
No fines will apply during the period of closure, and until we reopen, the option to reserve items online has been disabled. Current loan(s) have now been extended to 31st August 2020.
The historical mill town of Buckfastleigh, which includes the neighbouring abbey village of Buckfast, is situated on the southern edge of eastern Dartmoor within the National Park. The library is housed in the Town Hall, where the provision of books and papers for the local working population dates back to a reading room provided by the Hamlyns, the local Mill owners. Today, the town still retains much of its character and charm despite periods of hardship.
The library is open on five days a week and hosts a number of events and activities, as well as offering free computer use and a wide variety of books for all ages. The active Friends of Buckfastleigh Library Group also supports the library with fundraising activities and hosting author events and summer activities.
