In Conversation: Helen Fields and Louise Sharland

In our latest In Conversation, Senior Supervisor Karen will be hosting this online event with authors Helen Fields and Louise Sharland. Helen Fields is back with a heart-pounding new book, perfect for fans of Cara Hunter and Stuart MacBride. An international and Amazon #1 best-selling author, Helen is a former criminal and family law barrister. Helen will be discussing her next book, the sixth in the series, 'Perfect Kill' which is due out on 6 February 2020. Louise will be chatting about her adult psychological thriller 'The Lake,' which will be published by Avon Books in March 2021. Louise is fascinated with exploring ideas and themes around why good people do bad things, and her experience working with people who have experienced homelessness gives her work a strong humanitarian and social justice theme. Above all, Louise wants to tell a good story that is entertaining, thought provoking and well written. This event is part of the #UnfinishedBusiness exhibition in partnership with the British Library Living Knowledge Network. https://www.bl.uk/living-knowledge-network/whats-on#

In conversation: Stella Duffy

We are beyond thrilled to be hosting our fabulous patron and llibrary lover Stella Duffy for our latest In Conversation event. Exeter Library's Karen will be chatting to Stella about her upcoming book Lullaby Beach. About Lullaby Beach: No more days, no more times, no more tides. No more secrets. Lullaby Beach is a compelling novel about family secrets and the legacy of trauma, set against the changing fortunes of an English seaside town, from award-winning writer Stella Duffy. When Lucy discovers the body of her great aunt Kitty, with a puzzling note and empty pill bottles by her bed, she can’t believe that the formidable woman who held her family together is gone – or understand why she has taken her own life. Lucy is determined to decipher Kitty’s final message. What she finds will overturn everything she thought she knew about her family. Lullaby Beach takes the reader on a journey through three generations of a complicated, close-knit clan whose joys and misfortunes track many of the most pressing conflicts and concerns of post-war Britain, from the promise and hypocrisies of 1950s London to the political divides and risky freedoms of the present day. Told with the warmth, generosity and fierce passion which has won Stella Duffy so much praise over her career, Lullaby Beach is a brilliant story of loss and love, revenge and redemption. This event is part of the #UnfinishedBusiness exhibition in partnership with the British Library Living Knowledge Network. https://www.bl.uk/living-knowledge-network/whats-on#
