National Lockdown

Following the government’s announcement of a national lockdown starting 5th November, we can confirm that our libraries will be open for our Choose & Collect service.

To use our Choose & Collect service please email or telephone your library to select your books and to pre-arrange a collection date. Learn more on our Covid-19 updates page.

Dartmouth Library is located within The Flavel, an Arts Centre in the heart of the beautiful riverside town of Dartmouth. The library offers a wide range of facilities to residents and visitors alike and Library staff are experienced and friendly, and enjoy recommending titles for visitors of all ages, as well as helping with computer use, including scanning, printing and photocopying.

The library runs several Book Clubs, including one for the visually impaired, as well as frequent author events that are supported by the Library Friends Group. There is also a lovely children’s section, where there are regular story and craft sessions.

Dartmouth Evening Reading Group By Zoom Invitation

Normally meeting on the 1st Thursday of the month. Due to Covid-19 restrictions meeting on Zoom by invitation. The Dartmouth Evening Reading Group read one selected title a month (usually my choice!) then meet in the library to discuss it. Most of our choices are contemporary fiction, often from prize shortlists, but with occasional forays into translated work, non-fiction, poetry or biography. For keen readers. We keep listening to audio books delivered by Dartmouth Caring volunteer and discuss them over the phone or with the DC volunteer. Normally meeting on the 1st Thursday of every month. The Visually Impaired Book Club offers an opportunity to discuss books (supplied as audiobook or large print book) in an informal and supportive atmosphere. Organised in partnership with Dartmouth Caring, refreshments are supplied and transport may be available. There will be occasional visits from healthcare experts
