During the period of lockdown - No fines were applied, and any items on loan were extended to 31st August. As libraries reopen, we will revert to our normal terms and conditions for fines and fees.

Dartmouth Library is located within The Flavel, an Arts Centre in the heart of the beautiful riverside town of Dartmouth. The library offers a wide range of facilities to residents and visitors alike and Library staff are experienced and friendly, and enjoy recommending titles for visitors of all ages, as well as helping with computer use, including scanning, printing and photocopying.

The library runs several Book Clubs, including one for the visually impaired, as well as frequent author events that are supported by the Library Friends Group. There is also a lovely children’s section, where there are regular story and craft sessions.

Fortnightly Zoom Meeting by Invitation - Dartmouth Evening Reading Group

Meeting normally on the 1st Thursday of the month. The Dartmouth Evening Reading Group read one selected title a month (usually my choice!) then meet in the library to discuss it. Most of our choices are contemporary fiction, often from prize shortlists, but with occasional forays into translated work, non-fiction, poetry or biography. For keen readers. Normally meeting on the 1st Thursday of every month. The Visually Impaired Book Club offers an opportunity to discuss books (supplied as audiobook or large print book) in an informal and supportive atmosphere. Organised in partnership with Dartmouth Caring, refreshments are supplied and transport may be available. There will be occasional visits from healthcare experts. Due to lockdown we continue our book discussions via the telephone. We are currently listening to The Barbed Wire University by Midge Gillies.

Memory café Memory café is run by Dartmouth Caring, a friendly and informal meeting for people with memory problems and their families. Meetings are weekly, but on the first Tuesday of each month Dartmouth Library is offering a Book Club with shared reading of poems and short extracts from books with a ‘feel good’ factor.
