Exeter Library is open seven days a week and receives an average of 1,500 visits a day. The library has over 1km of shelves containing over 60,000 books, CDs and DVDs which can be issued at any of the self-service points. In addition, the library has a reserve stack of approximately 150,000 items, available on request.

There is a large children's library overlooking Rougemont Gardens and a separate teen area, as well as 34 computers which are free to use for up to 2 hours per day and printing and copying facilities.

Exeter Library is also home to the Business and Intellectual Property (IP) Centre, where you can access information and attend business events and workshops to support your business or start up. The library also houses the first FabLab to be located within a public library in England. FabLab Devon is a community creative space that provides access to a range of digital equipment and machinery.

Find help with basic IT skills, using the internet, creating email accounts, sending and receiving emails, using social media and much more. The session is not for complete beginners but is a drop in session so there is no need to book. During busy periods there may be a wait as staff and volunteers aim to assist as many people as possible during the session.

Alice in the Cuckoo's Nest with Librarian Theatre

Librarian Theatre’s new play, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, will tour libraries across the UK, exploring the theme of psychosis in the world of Alice’s library. Children aged 8+ (accompanied by an adult) are very welcome; please note however that this is not a children’s show, and the production explores adult themes of mental health. The show lasts approximately one hour with no interval. Tickets are £7.50 or £4.50 for concessions senior /disabled/under 18s/unemployed. This event will explore Trump’s impact on domestic and foreign politics as our panellists discuss what his presidency can tell us about both the man and the country. Dear Muggles, Wizards and Witches, we invite to join us in celebrating Harry Potter Book Night. We promise you a night of wizarding fun and the chance to discover and share the magical world of Harry Potter. Please leave your broomsticks at the door and keep your wands at the ready!
