Exeter Library is open seven days a week and receives an average of 1,500 visits a day. The library has over 1km of shelves containing over 60,000 books, CDs and DVDs which can be issued at any of the self-service points. In addition, the library has a reserve stack of approximately 150,000 items, available on request.

There is a large children's library overlooking Rougemont Gardens and a separate teen area, as well as 34 computers which are free to use for up to 2 hours per day and printing and copying facilities.

Exeter Library is also home to the Business and Intellectual Property (IP) Centre, where you can access information and attend business events and workshops to support your business or start up. The library also houses the first FabLab to be located within a public library in England. FabLab Devon is a community creative space that provides access to a range of digital equipment and machinery.

E-Wednesday - IT Drop In

Every Wednesday our IT Drop-in session has staff and volunteers on hand for one to one support, located in the Teen area of the library. Find help with basic IT skills, using the internet, creating email accounts, sending and receiving emails, using social media and much more. The session is not for complete beginners but is a drop in session so there is no need to book. During busy periods there may be a wait as staff and volunteers aim to assist as many people as possible during the session.

Do you enjoy word games? Would you like to improve your vocabulary? Come and join our new Scrabble Club! Free to join and for all ages! Starting Sunday 27th January 2019, our Scrabble club will take place every 4th Sunday of the month. It is suitable for the young and old to play together, we accept all ages (though we do recommend children are aged 7+). Bring a friend or come on your own and meet new people. Boards will be set out in the main library by the audiobooks, please feel free to take a seat and start playing. Please note: Children under the age of 8 must have parental supervision.

Tony Husband & 35 Years of Private Eye Cartoons

From January until the end of March 2019 nationally renowned cartoonist Tony Husband has brought his award-winning works to an exclusive exhibition at Exeter Library. Come and browse the exhibition throughout the building, free of charge. The illustrations have been specially prepared for this display and document Tony’s work for the UK's number one best-selling news and current affairs magazine, Private Eye. The display can be seen during all library opening times.
