Making Your Mark Exhibition

The Making Your Mark Exhibition is currently on show and will be displaying at Exeter Library until the end of August. Perfect for families, this pop-up display draws on the themes of the British Library exhibition of the same name, which spans five millennia and five continents, exploring one of humankind’s greatest achievements – the act of writing. Pick up a free learning trail while you're here to make this a truly interactive experience. Writing: Making Your Mark launches simultaneously on 26th April in over 20 public libraries around the UK, through the Living Knowledge Network (an innovative UK-wide network of public libraries working in partnership with the British Library, National Library of Wales and the National Library of Scotland). Complementing the pop-up display, we have curated an exhibition from our own Special Collections Archive, showcasing the marginalia within some of the oldest books in Devon. Marginalia are scribbles, comments, annotations or doodles that have been added to books over the years. These unique additions add to the history of each item and hint at the individuals who have read, studied and enjoyed these books over their long history.
