Exeter Library is open seven days a week and receives an average of 1,500 visits a day. The library has over 1km of shelves containing over 60,000 books, CDs and DVDs which can be issued at any of the self-service points. In addition, the library has a reserve stack of approximately 150,000 items, available on request.

There is a large children's library overlooking Rougemont Gardens and a separate teen area, as well as 34 computers which are free to use for up to 2 hours per day and printing and copying facilities.

Exeter Library is also home to the Business and Intellectual Property (IP) Centre, where you can access information and attend business events and workshops to support your business or start up. The library also houses the first FabLab to be located within a public library in England. FabLab Devon is a community creative space that provides access to a range of digital equipment and machinery.

Crafty Weekenders Club

Are you crafty? Would you like to meet others who are also creative? Our new crafty weekenders club taking place every 4th Sunday of the month, is free to join and for all ages and will be an opportunity for creative and crafty minded people to come together for a bit of a chat and create session. Please bring along your own craft project you may just be starting or have been working on for a while. Crafty weekenders is suitable for people of all ages, children and up. Bring along your craft materials and take a seat!

Build and use a contact microphone

In this workshop each participant learns the basics of soldering as they create their own microphone. They then spend time sampling and recording the acoustics of objects throughout the space and finally edit and modify these recordings using the free Audacity audio software. Attendees can take their microphone and sound recordings away to continue to work on and edit them. Suitable for Ages 11 and above (under 16 accompanied). A session aimed at people with no coding knowledge or experience. The session introduces the simple Scratch coding environment and explains how to code using simple drag and drop blocks. Basic coding concepts are introduced and fun practical exercises (including the use of the Code-a-Pillars) teach the process of solving real life problems with code before the widely used high level Python language is introduced. Attendees will be able to continue their coding journey after the session if they sign up for the online accounts (Scratch and Trinket).
