RB Digital migrates eAudiobook, eMagazine and eNewspaper resources to Libby
RB Digital, one of Libraries Unlimited’ digital resources, is preparing to migrate its catalogue across to OverDrive and its associated app, Libby, after being purchased by OverDrive in 2020.
RB Digital provides free access for library customers to eAudiobooks, as well as digital access to popular magazines and newspapers.
The move will allow library customers to access a wider range of digital resources through one platform, creating a simpler and easier to use customer experience.
The migration of resources will begin on Wednesday 24th March at approximately 1pm, beginning with eAudiobooks and eMagazines. Content will begin to appear in OverDrive’s app, Libby, over the next 4 to 8 hours. However, customers should be aware that it could take up to 24 hours for all resources to be transferred.
eNewspapers will be transferred on the 18th May but will continue to be available on RBdigital until 20th May.
Registered users will also be sent an email ahead of the migration to inform them that content will be moving across to OverDrive and Libby.
There should be minimal disruption to customers during the migration. OverDrive’s Libby app will remain useable throughout the transfer and customers should be able to see more and more content appearing in the catalogue as the transfer progresses.
After the eMagazine and eAudiobbok services are switched off on Friday 30th April, customers will lose their audiobook history from RB Digital. However, users will be able to access their magazine history by logging into the Zinio app with the same details they used for RBdigital.
Customers can access Libby via their desktop and can download the Libby app from the Apple App Store, or download the Libby app from Google Play for android devices. OverDrive and Libby are both free to access for library customers and simply require customers to create an account using their library membership details to access thousands of free digital resources.
