Torrington Library is located within the heart of the market town, conveniently located next to a large car park and sharing the site with the local Tourist Information Centre and 1646, a historically themed cafe. The library is open on four days a week and boasts a bright and busy children's area plus a wide range of books and resources, free WiFi and computer access.

The Library offers regular children's activities, hosts numerous local reading groups and has active Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) volunteers offering a home delivery service for those no longer able to access the library themselves. Staff look forward to offering all users a warm welcome.

Paddleboat Theatre - Clare Hollingworth and the Scoop of the Century.

August 29th 1939 BRITISH JOURNALIST’S BIG SCOOP Today it is reported that a young, intrepid journalist crossed over the border from Poland to Germany. There, she saw something that would change her life and history forever… PaddleBoat Theatre Company present the tale of fearless journalist Clare Hollingworth. From the busy newspaper offices in London to the frontline during World War II, Clare’s adventures tell the remarkable true story of one of the most important writers of our time. This globe-trotting and playful family show embarks on the journey of Clare’s life. A life-story which has been forgotten for years. We’ll celebrate the work of a pioneer who changed the mould of journalism, not just for women but for everyone. PaddleBoat bring their unique style to this remarkable tale of daring, intrigue and an invasion that would rock the world. We invite you to be journalists with us as we go undercover in a highly interactive show bursting with storytelling, songs and the scoop of the century. The show will be followed by a free storytelling workshop for all the family! The workshop will last approximately 1 hour and we welcome anyone to stay along after the show to join in. Recommended age 4+ Don't forget to book onto the free post-show workshop! Please note this performance will be in the Community Hall next door to the library.
