Torrington Library is located within the heart of the market town, conveniently located next to a large car park and sharing the site with the local Tourist Information Centre, Fork 'n' Feast cafe and the town council offices. The library is open on four days a week and boasts a bright and busy children's area plus a wide range of books and resources, free WiFi and computer access.

The Library offers regular children's activities, hosts numerous local reading groups and has active Home Library Service volunteers offering a home delivery service for those no longer able to access the library themselves. Staff look forward to offering all users a warm welcome.

Walk and Talk in Torrington
Join us for a friendly walk exploring the routes around Torrington. These gentle walks are suitable for people who have not walked much before, are looking to be more active, or are returning from injury or illness. After the walk relax with a cuppa at a local cafe. We meet every Thursday outside the library in Sydney House Car Park. Walks are free, but a donation of £1 is appreciated. If you would like to join please contact the library for more information and to book a place.

Book a one-to-one session with our IT volunteer and jolly nice person, Perry, who can offer guidance and support with your digital devices. Thursday mornings by appointment. Let's Paint Torrington!
Looking over the valley from Castle Hill garden - find inspiration and create a painting working in watercolour. Discover the magic of this medium under the guidance of local artist Bill Bromfield. In event of bad weather, we can work from the pavillion. Basic materials can be provided, or bring your own.

Digital Design Workshops
In this workshop outreach event at Torrington Library you can participate in a few workshops to experience a variety of CAD design. 2pm - 3:30pm Vinyl T-shirt Design Please bring your own item of clothing to custom. If all goes to plan the T-shirts will be made during the workshop. If, for any reason, this isn't possible, we will make your T-shirt back at the FabLab and will send it to Torrington Library for you to collect. 3:45pm - 4:45pm 3D Printed Keyring Learn how to use 3D software to design your own keyring or print. These will be made after the session and sent back to the Library for collection. This workshop is for adults 16yrs+. Places are very limited and booking tickets is essential. It is not possible to turn up on the day for the workshop without purchasing a ticket.

Come to Torrington Library (14th-28th October) and experience an augmented reality installation, which brings to life the captivating stories of female writers whose work lies in 'the cage' - a place beneath the floor of Exeter library where its special collection is housed. Unlocking the Cage is an immersive visual and audio journey through the lives and works of four of these women.

Unlocking the Cage has been researched, written and narrated by award-winning author Kim Sherwood. Shortlisted for the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award 2019, she is known for her debut novel Testament and is the first woman to have written a James Bond novel with the first book in her trilogy due for publication in September 2022.

Unlocking the Cage can be enjoyed alone, or in groups of up to 4 people at a time and takes approximately 28 minutes to experience in full.

No need to book - accessible during the library's opening hours.
